THE FRIENDS OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH FINDON
Helping to preserve our historic church for future generations
Welcome
The Friends of St John the Baptist Church Findon is a charitable trust
which supports the restoration, preservation, repair, maintenance and improvement of Findon Church.
This includes the monuments, fittings, fixtures, stained glass, furniture, ornaments and chattels in the church and of the churchyard.
Our only goal is to secure the long-term existence of the church and its property for the enjoyment of future generations.
LATEST NEWS
FINDON SHEEP FAIR - THANK YOU!
Despite the damp start to the day, attendance at the Friends’ refreshment stall exceeded expectations and we are delighted to report that we raised over £800.00. Our offering of teas, coffees, cakes, scones, and sausage rolls was complemented by hot dogs and burgers during the lunch period. This achievement, in helping raise funds for the upkeep of our church, was due to the selfless assistance of our many volunteers, too many to thank here, but we know who you are! Also a big thank you to the many visitors who bought refreshments from us. Our volunteers commented on how much they enjoyed participation, especially the friendly conversations with visitors to our stand. This leads us nicely on to the dreaded ‘Christmas’ word, and a reminder of the Christmas Tree Festival in our church on Saturday and Sunday, 6th/7th December. The Friends will be looking for volunteers to help on the refreshments stall but there will be many other ways to support this event, so keep an eye out for further information in the Findon News.

The Committee extends its warmest thanks to all who bought from and volunteered at its stand, for without you, it would not have been possible.
GOLF DAY 2025
Friday 30th May at Horsham Golf Club
This was another successful event with 25 players enjoying the golf followed by a meal, presentation of prizes and raffle/auction. We raised a further £620.00 to add to our funds, down to the generosity of those buying raffle tickets and bidding for some unusual items - including "Pedro". We were lucky again with the weather which stayed dry and very warm.

QUIZ NIGHT 22nd February 2025

This was a hugely enjoyable and very successful event with over £750.00 raised. Eighty two tickets were sold and the quiz saw a tightly fought contest, with the winning team “The Acers” winning by just the one point; all who attended witnessed a very entertaining evening and the Committee thanks you for taking part. Special mentions must go to those involved, including Steve Sharp for a clever and interesting set of questions and picture rounds and to Julie and Ralph Yates for ensuring piping hot fish and chip suppers; they were delicious.
Our very own Treasurer, Ian Hollyholmes, acted as MC and Quizmaster, supported by Caroline Hill, Helena Buqué and Nikky Cusson, who provided outstanding service in the bar; to Tessa McCormick and her team our thanks for an excellent raffle, and to the many others who helped,
please accept our grateful thanks.
